We went on a picnic with friends to Labrador Park.

We've met a family of Americans with 3 girls who are new to Singapore. We got our gaggle of girls together for a long Moms and Daughters scooter walk to the "Sand Playground". 8 is the maximum group size allowed in Singapore, so we had to leave our Helper at home. She sounded a little disappointed not to be heading out to us, but we all understand they're Singapore's rules.

It was definitely a mob of children: 6 kids from 2 to 8 years old. People got out of our way on the path. We only lost one child for a few moments. She had kept going on the trail when the rest of us stopped to look at something. We sent MsC on her scooter ahead to see if she was on the trail and her Mom stayed in the place we'd lost her. MsC caught up to her a few minutes and they looped back to us, but I hate loosing kids.

We found a peacock in a tree. Everyone was pretty thrilled over that. We also saw lots of Jungle Fowl. MsE tried to spot a rooster crowing by sticking her head through a bush. We also got to point out the Plantain Squirrels to the girls. We could see the feathery tails clearly as they raced around the tree limbs just above us.

The Peacock.

It was actually a rainy day. We brought our umbrellas, but didn't bother bringing them out. The rain stayed at a misty drizzle. We didn't really mind; it kept us cool. When the rain picked up for a while, we sought shelter under a Picnic Pavilion and spread out our picnic blanket. MsE sat with everyone on the picnic blanket, even though she knew there would be ants. After some snacks the girls played for a little while longer and then we had a horrible time getting them to leave the park. It was about as effective as trying to catch a school of fish with just your hands. Eventually we were all headed towards home.
