A Little Beach Time
We made it down the beach with the kids. The sky did look a little iffy, but we risked it anyhow. A thunder storm did end up chasing us off the beach before we were really done.
We were at Palawan Beach on Sentosa Island. The kids loved the swaying bridge to the southern most point of Continental Asia. On the way back MsI had to stop and hang on for a bit to the netting, because some adults were swaying the bridge in a really big way. In their defence, they couldn't see through all the people on the bridge to where we were. They looked quite appalled when they passed us and realized they had been tossing toddlers around.
It's a super soft sandy beach with a lifeguard too. The island just across for the beach, means the beach has a very shallow slope in the water. The expanse of water is so narrow that MsC can more than swim across. There's also basically no waves or tide pulling on the kids either. Did I mention the incredibly warm water?
We reminded the kids that they shouldn't pick up anything that looked like a rock as it might actually be a venomous Stone Fish. Apparently its also best to shuffle your feet as the water is a bit murky so that you can't step on one. We haven't seen any fish like this, but it's good to be aware.
As the storm approached, we saw the lifeguards raise the red flags on the beach and then a loud announcement asked everyone to "leave the water as the National Weather Service has issued a lightening warning". I was impressed with how efficient this process was at clearing the beach.
We were over on the Island so it took us a bit to get all 5 of us back to our stroller and gather to up our shoes. We showered off the sand at the outdoor shower beside the footpath along the beach and put our shoes on. Then we took the kids to the change rooms just beyond the beach, and got them changed into dry clothes. By the time that was done, it had started to rain, but we just kept to the covered walkways on the way back to the Train off Sentosa.
