We headed back to our newly found lunch spot - Bikini Bar. It's tucked out of the way, right on the beach on Sentosa Island.

We had brought our sand toys to Sentosa hoping to get some sun and some lunch. The public beaches are off limits unless you have a government reservation, and we did not. But, we were hoping for at least a strategic lunch spot.

We also discovered the public beach is closed between 1 and 2 to ensure the morning group has left the area before the afternoon group arrives.

We had found this place the other weekend by walking up and down the beach road trying to find anywhere with an unreserved table for lunch. We were out of luck and thinking maybe we would just have to eat ice cream from a stand to tide us over until we got home. We missed the tiny entrance to Bikini Bar on our first pass by, but on the way back we saw it. I ran up to ask if they let kids in and they were happy to show us all in.

The discrete entrance to Bikini Bar. Those railings are blocking off public access to the beach due to Covid.

Bikini Bar looks like it would usually be a busy adult drinking hole, but with Covid restrictions it's a pretty tame place - at least at lunch time. With most of the other beach restaurants along this strip of Sentosa, you are playing for pools and exclusive private beachfront with lawn chairs, hammocks, and cabanas. Those places told me reservations open up one month in advance. I'll be keeping that in mind for my birthday.

In contrast this little Bikini Bar appeared to have no beach access from the front. Last time I spotted some stairs tucked out of the way that looked like they lead to the beach. This time I asked and Bikini Bar told us we were welcome to go down and use the beach. I took the girls down for a little splash around and we pulled out our sand toys. Our table was on the covered patio right at the beach edge so it was easy to both play and see when our lunch arrived. We were the only people from Bikini Bar who chose to use the beach, everyone else on this little cove of a beach was from the big Beach Club next door.  All those white umbrellas are for the beach club (our restaurant had the red and white umbrellas). It felt a bit like sneaking onto the property without paying cover.

The water is so warm; the bottom squishy soft sand. I reminded the girl to shuffle their feet to avoid stepping on a Stingray, Rockfish, or Jellyfish - all of which can be lethal. It's a rare occurrence, but we have heard of a handful of stings on the beach near this spot in the almost 2 years we've been living in Singapore. The girls barely moved past the water's edge and were happy to just dig on the beach. There were lots of swimmers in this little warm bay though, and we've swam close to here before too. As we were on the beach, we kept our masks on. If we'd gone swimming we would have taken them off then.

MsE pointing out the Auntie getting buried by her friends in the sand.

Bikini Bar has a pretty limited menu: tacos, chili, nachos, french fries, but a large drink list, including fresh juice. MsC got Tropical Punch; MsE lime; MsI Orange and Jonathan Pineapple. I'm working my way through the other drink list. My favorite is the Peach Margarita so far.

I was thankful for the handy outdoor shower for us to wash our hands and feet off right at the beach edge too. We didn't troop much sand to our patio table. MsE collected some small seashells. She was okay to put them back on the beach after she took this picture at our table and showed them off to us.
