Trying to get a sense of areas, we headed to Tiong Bahru for dinner. We took the bus as the Hawker Centre is about a 10 min walk from the MRT.
Figuring out the bus route did not go well. First I couldn’t fit the umbrella stroller through the doorway. There are bars to let two rows of people on the bus at once and the wheels were twisted making it too wide. Then you have to tap your transportation cards which are the same ones that you use on the MRT. Feeling frazzled I dropped my wallet exploding money, coins, credit cards everywhere. Someone stopped and helped me pick it all up while the whole bus waited. Jonathan was already down the bus with the 2 older kids. Finally settled in, we realized the bus was heading in the opposite direction. We got off at the next stop and started again on the other side of the street.

To get home we took the bus in the wrong direction again. Only this time it was dark and the kids were exhausted. We got off this time and just walked to the MRT. At least you can’t get lost on the MRT. However, whereas the bus should only take about 20 min, from this area it took us 50 min on the MRT and we had to transfer between 3 different MRT lines. Transferring also meant taking elevators (lifts) to change platforms. Ugh!
Ms.E feel asleep on Jonathan’s shoulders before we even got to the MRT. Ms.I feel asleep in the stroller. They didn’t even wake up when we got them home.
