MsI wanted to take the stroller on our walk. She had already buckled herself in by the time I noticed and could not be talked out of it.
We hadn't taken the stroller out in about 6 weeks. With the kids not getting much exercise, I'd rather the Littles be on their scooters, but it was the stroller or no walk that day.
I decided to try to find a new entrance to Mt. Faber. I figure there must be a winding path up the hill that isn't stairs straight up, but I haven't found one yet. I can't take the stroller up stairs and I the little ones can't walk many stairs so Mt. Faber adventures have been non-existent since the Cable Cars closed.
We didn't find another entrance, but I did get to head in a new direction and we found some feathered friends about 2 blocks from our condo complex. These guys didn't look like Jungle Fowl. I'm pretty sure they're domestic chickens, probably fed by the people who live in this area. The chickens were on the edge of the nature park and wandering along a row of slightly run down shops with a single story of apartments above. I hadn't been to this area before. It's interesting to realize that this low end housing is only a few blocks from some of the most expensive homes in Singapore.
MsE liked the resident cat. She noticed his eyes and also his cropped ear from a fight of some sort. He was pretty scabby looking with fur-less patches on his back. The kids declare all these black cats Panthers. Feral cats are quite common around us. They are quite wild and we don't let the kids pet them. They usually won't let the kids near. I'm sure this one was being fed by the people in the shops or apartments above.

MsE had a lot of fun taking pictures and videos of all the chickens. I was surprised to see so many roosters together. MsE was cautious when taking her pictures. She didn't want to be too close to the roosters and kept backing up as they walked near her. She said, "We don't want to follow the chickens too close or we scare the chickens or the roosters will get made at us."
We were with the chickens quite a while, maybe 15 minutes. We stayed until a breeze made some drops splatter down on us from an earlier rain fall on us. MsE quickly demanded that we move along home. She was frightened that the drops might mean that there were monkeys in the trees above. There were not, but she was taking no chances and made us walk on the opposite side of the road away from the edge of the park and the jungly trees until we got to a busier road.

That 15 minutes was the first time we've just hung out outside in possibly months. MsI stayed in the stroller as we were on the side of a side road, but MsE got to wander around. It was lovely, and in hind sight we really shouldn't have been doing it. If there had been any other people around, I wouldn't have stopped. I would have just pointed out the chickens and kept moving. That's what we do when we see the Jungle Fowl in Labrador park.
We've been very strict about following Singpore's exercise only rule. Usually I put the kids on their scooters and we keep moving the whole time we are outside. If I have only MsI, she likes to get off her scooter and explore a bit and I'll follow her around holding her scooter for a few minutes as she pokes around in the bushes, looks at a snail, or finds a puddle or 2, but that's it.
Shoes on. Mask on. Helmet Last (It helps keep the masks on). Down the Lift. Straight out of our complex. Scoot down the Boardwalk, Turn around, and Reverse. No stopping.
