Being Year of the Rat, I could not resist all of the Mickey Mouse things I've been seeing. I ended up buying the girls red shirts with a mickey head shaped platter holding traditional candies, cookies, seeds, mandarin oranges and pamelo, ang bao red envelopes, and gold coins.

Jonathan's work handed out free Ang Pao envelopes so we used one to give the girls a little bit of new year money in an even number of course.  

Before the new year hit, we decorated the house a little. I picked up 2 wall hangings with Mickey Mouse and good luck symbols. We coloured Rats and painted paper towel Nian Monsters. We made paper lanterns and origami Rats.
