This Sunday we headed to East Coast Park. This park runs along the palm tree lined beach for miles and miles. It's a favorite picnic and biking spot for many.

We brought a picnic. Actually, Jonathan and I had brought our lunches, and some extra snacks for everyone. I picked up McDonald's hamburgers and fries for the girls. When I planned that one, I didn't realize that McDonald's beside the playground here would be an absolute zoo on a Sunday.

I used the Self-Order Kiosk outside for "Take Away," and then went inside to await my order. There were about 20 orders up before me. Some of the orders were huge; like 3 trays totally pilled with food. 8 people is the maximum group size allowed to gather in Singapore, so I'll assume it was lunches for 8 people or less. I was really glad I left the girls outside with Jonathan while I picked up their lunch. Amazingly none of those orders seemed to have any errors. Ours was prefect; MsE even got her "No onions; No pickles" request filled. I think I was gone for almost 30 minutes.

After a while I realized that all the picnic tables in full sun were empty except for our. All the shady ones were taken. People had chosen to sit on the ground in the shade rather than pick a sunny table. Just another example of how we show that we don't know what we're doing.

It gets quite hot out at East Coast Park, but we were in danger of being caught in a rain shower and there was a very nice breeze blowing in off the water. I slathered on our sunscreen anyhow. We watched the black clouds gather, and the Tankers anchored just off shore changed direction. Boats point into the wind when at anchor. It looked like that storm was definitely heading our way.

There's a narrow strip of white sand and then tropical blue sea of the Singapore Straight. Before I cleaned up our picnic things, I took a little walk to the beach. To ensure Contact Tracing in case of a Covid case, the beach has been split into small sections and you need to sign in with Singapore's Contact Tracing app (like you do everywhere here). So no long walks on the beach here currently. But there are flat wide paved separate walking and riding trails, which include the lovely beach view.

The water here has a steep drop off so swimming isn't recommended. I had brought the girls sand toys, but they opted to head over to the big playground.

There were no lifeguards on duty on these beaches, but we did find a very prominent First Aid Post in the middle of the park. There were also plenty of restaurants that we could have eaten at. I liked the look of the one with the burgers and sand play zone: George's.

We were heading down to check out the Bicycles for rent. They have 4 and 8 seats. But, the rain caught up to us here and didn't let up. We realized that the covers on the Group Bike wouldn't help much in this rain. We sheltered at a Changing Room building, then called it a day, calling ourselves a Grab and heading home.

While we were waiting the girls were wet and cold. I wrapped them in the tablecloth from our picnic.

MsI said, "Ev, I'm scared."
"Why are you scared?, MsE asked.
"Because I'm cold," replied MsI.

MsE held her a little tighter.

What a world we're living in, where feeling cold is so strange, that it's scary.
