Flower Dome
We checked Gardens by the Bay's Flower Dome.
This greenhouse is kept at about 20 C. If feels cool when you walk in from Singapore's sultry heat, but inside it's more like a summer day on the west coast of Canada. Many of the flower selections reminded me of home.
The first section we passed through was themed to Alice in Wonderland, which instantly won over my Disney-deprived self. I found the White Rabbit.
Can you see the X's on the pathway walls in the picture above? That's to indicate that you need to leave a 3 foot space between parties if you sit. We asked MsC to take a quiet moment on this bench. Again the X's are to remind you about social spacing - MsC just took the whole bench over, but there was hardly anyone around on this weekday.
Singapore is famous for it's orchids so there was a lovely sign with orchid names. We tried to match a number of them up. I wish there was a lot more signage in Garden's by the Bay. I want to know what everything is called. I did recognize many of the flowers in this greenhouse, where as I have no clue what most of the plants are in Singapore.
The fairy tale theme continued through the Dome. There was a castle and little thatched cottages and even a very tiny rose garden.
I recognized many of the flowers in this Dome. The girls had my phone to take pictures to keep them occupied so I don't have many flower photos, but there were geraniums, daisies, black-eyed susans and marigolds, and blooms I would find in gardens my Granny or Mom have planted.
After being in Singapore for a year, I was thrilled to see these, but I wouldn't send someone visiting from North America to this Greenhouse.
