Our homeschooling highlights from the week included maps, games and languages.
MsC's Math workbook had her using a scale to figure out distance on a map, and also graphing data points. We quickly moved from MsC's workbook to using a ruler to figure out distances on the world map in our Dining Room. MsC started with Mexico and quickly moved to measure India. India has been her favorite place for more than a year now. We also looked at latitude and longitude.
MsE's has been avoiding her Math Workbook and then she'll go and do 5 pages all in one go on her own. Today I noticed she is doing sums under 20 in her head now and was happy working on copying her number words down.
We all played Uno and Bingo to work on our number sense.

MsC gets to pick a small reward when she complete's her independent reading log, but now she's up to reading her 10 required novels in a week. MsC wants a small stuffy for each log she completes. I told her she now needs to pick a smaller prize or double the amount of books she reads before she gets her prize.
She chose to double the number of books she has to read to 20.
We're learning about the ancient languages of Mesopotamia and China right now. MsC and I tried writing in Cuneiform in wet clay. We used the top of a chopstick as our stylus. MsE wasn't interested so she made another clay pot. Her pots are getting larger.
We also took a peek at our Children's Mandarin book. MsE was pretty good at guessing what the characters meant based on the pictures.

And MsI's highlight was painting her "potato family."
