When I say they kids are hot and sweaty with the aircon off, I mean it.
MsI's hair is soaked at 10:50 in the morning in Singapore. All the doors all open with a good amount of airflow going through our living room. She's actually been standing less than 5 feet from the 7 foot wide patio doorway. She hasn't been running around; she's just been quietly playing.

MsC is exactly the same way. By 11 am she is usually shouting that the doors must all be shut now. MsC will sometimes hide out in her bedroom with the aircon on to cool off when the rest of the house is still open to the heat.
MsE always has Blue. "Blue" the blue double fleece blanket that she claimed as her own as a small baby back in Canada. MsI isn't afraid to wrap up in Blue even when the aircon is off. She hardly ever breaks a sweat and if she does she just complains that she's itchy, never hot.

I close the house up for the afternoon and turn on the aircon. There is a definite calm that settles over the house as the aircon comes on. I don't turn the aircon off in the main part of our home until the kids head to bed. We leave it on in the bedrooms overnight. Sometimes I like to sit in the living room with the patio doors open reading for the evening. It's not cool, but it's cooler. Even though it's dark after 7, it doesn't really ever cool off in Singapore. I've never worn a sweater here.
I'll notice the chill of the aircon in the bedroom later. MsI and I both sleep wrapped up in our fleece blankets, where else everyone else uses a single sheet even with the aircon on.
