Explaining Essential Services to MsE at bedtime she was not fun.

MsE: "I have a great day planned tomorrow; We are going to the Bird Park!"
Me:  "Sorry, the Bird Park is closed. Most things are closing for a month and we have to stay home.
MsE: "But then all the things I like to do will be closed. What will we do?...
No Bird Park... No Zoo... No Universal (Studios)... No Aquarium...
No Cable Cars!"

Sorry, we can go for a walk; We can play in the house.

Another day MsE said,

"Why don't we ever go on Adventures any more? We never go on adventures now.... Oh yeah, the Corona Virus":(

MsI's feelings:

"I want to go to the pool. No? Ok, the playground! NOOOOOW!!!"

Sorry, the pool is closed and so is the playground.

MsC's feelings:

"I'm kind of mad that we might not be able to go to Universal for my birthday, but also happy that some days I might get to spend all day on the computer."

In theory the Essential Services only directive ends on May 4, 2020. That's not long before MsC's birthday. We've talked about how the directive could very likely be extended.

But you never know, Singapore is being very strict about these rules, we have almost no imported cases occurring now and anyone who enters Singapore is placed in Government Quarantine in a "closed" Hotel for their 14 days. Singapore managed to isolate cases for months before this recent surge.

I'm hopeful that these restrictions may actually end here on the scheduled May 4th. If not, I hear the kids' drama class is making dress up calls (pirates or princesses) for birthdays, which could be fun!

PS. Now I'm trying to undo one day where I let MsC play on the computer for way too long. Now we have a "No computers till 3 pm" policy, because constantly saying, "No, you can not use the computer" is really annoying - Especially because all 3 kids ask independently, so.... Every 7 minutes I repeat this phrase.
