Last Cable Car Ride

Our Cable Car Annual Passes expire today.

They would have run out in July, except that our passes were extended by how long the Cable Cars were closed due to Covid-19. Seeing as it's now January, I guess they were closed for 6 months.

The cable cars are MsI's favorite thing, but we don't go on it very much anymore. It's much faster to use the train or bus. If we can have visitors to Singapore, I'm sure we will buy a pass again then.

MsC and MsI said the cable cars were "Boring!," so they stayed home. They were not impressed that we ended up at the beach. We told them, we just followed MsI's directions.

First we had to look for the Dolphins - Found them. Then we noticed that the Merlion's head was missing. We've known this day was coming for a long time, but it appears that demolition of Singapore's iconic giant Merlion has started. Good thing MsC wasn't with us; it would have ruined her day.

That concrete cylinder used to be the Merlion.

I found Buckets and Pails for less than $10 in the gift shop. MsI bought one with her Christmas money. She was so excited, so we knew where we would be heading. We got on the second Cable Car, which runs down to Siloso Beach.

At the beach we followed the long row of mesh fencing until we eventually got to a check-in point. We need to check-in for social tracing at the beach. We didn't have to wait in line though and only had to scan in. On the weekends you have to reserve a 4 hour time slot in order to visit the beach.

The beach was cordoned off into small sections. We picked the closest section, because we just wanted to let MsI play with some sand. There was some occasional construction noise from one of the beach clubs choosing this down time to do renovations; this may have been why this section was almost deserted.

Look a sailboat!

MsI jumped back, shrieked at the first wave, laughingly saying "It scared me." She was right back at the water's edge the next moment. I think she was surprised by tide; she's more used to swimming pools. She shortly after dropped 2 of her new sand toys in the water and started screaming "Don't sink! Don't sink!" I had to run in and splash around trying to save her toys before the tide took them. She decided to hang onto them tightly after that.

It was actually a pretty wet day. It was drizzling when we left home, but sunny once we got down to the beach. We left the beach after about an hour as black clouds approached and got to ride the cable cars during a rain shower. It was neat to see the rain falling from above, as the cable cars are high above the forest canopy for much of the ride. By the time we were finished our 2 cable car rides back, the rain had cleared and we got home sandy, but dry.

I love the banana.
