Membership Has Expired

I came across the dreaded words, "Your membership has expired."

It has come to my attention that our Universal Studios passes have expired. We are locked out! Cue the waterworks. I was planning a whole family visit to see the Christmas displays there. Guess, I'm going to have to look for something else festive now that December is here.

If I had have realized we were nearing the end of our time, I would have taken at least the girls to Universal for one more Hurrah! We did see the decorations (so I'll post those pictures soon), but I thought we would be back again.

We have a lot of annual memberships, because we were in a real sight seeing phase - being so new to Singapore - and the cost of an annual pass is usually about the cost of 2 visits, so it was totally worth getting the membership at that time. It's hard to keep track of when our passes are ending now though. Most would have expired long before now, but attractions closed down for almost 3 months unexpectedly due to COVID. Now most memberships have been extended by how many days each specific attraction was closed. This varies for each attraction, and they all have some very vague wording about it. You have to work out how many days the attraction was closed yourself and hope you are correct with your dates and your math. There's nowhere to actually check the new expiry dates; unless, I suppose, you call in to every attraction.

Sadly, Universal isn't issuing any new memberships due to COVID capacity restrictions. It's a pricey place to buy a day ticket, but the annual membership made it do-able place for us. So we won't be seeing much (or maybe any) of this place until memberships reopen.

I'm hopeful that Universal will issue memberships again when Singapore moves to Phase 3 and lightens restrictions more, but that's pure speculation.  Singapore has indicated though, that we will likely move into Phase 3 before too much longer, as we have almost no local community cases (just 1 in the last 14 days).

Our zoo passes expire Dec. 10th. Maybe we can squeeze in a few visits before then. However, it looks like the zoo is currently issuing annual memberships, so we may get to keep this one.

Thankfully, we didn't buy all our annual passes at the same time. Looks like our Aquarium passes are good until mid-February (assuming I've calculated the days correctly). They're probably doing something seasonal, but I imagine it's rather small. The Aquarium isn't issuing memberships either yet, but day tickets also aren't a terrible price, and hopefully they will be by the time we need them.

We've got until January 8 to use the Cable Cars to Sentosa Island. I like the ride. It's so pretty, but I'm not sure if we will get this one again. Our Helper is afraid of heights so we usually use the bus to go to Sentosa now. We're just not using it very often.

I bought us another year of Museum memberships. It's our cheapest membership and in addition to some of the museums we've visited, this membership also includes a number of museums in Singapore that we been to yet. There are so many museums here.

I'm really sad about Universal Studios, but at least we still have the Aquarium for now. Those 2 attractions are just 10 or 15 minutes from home - one quick bus ride - so we do find them so easy to go do. Everything else is much farther away. The zoo becomes an all day adventure, including buying lunch out, and a 45 minute cab ride on each end; where as, we just pop into Universal and the Aquarium for a couple hours.
