At the last minute, Jonathan and I tried to go to a new place for our Saturday lunch date - Tiann's. It's an entirely gluten free bakery in Tiong Bahru.

It has limited seating though so weren't surprised that we couldn't get in though. They told us to message for a reservation for next weekend. We wandered around the Tiong Bahru Wet Market before heading to our usual lunch spot in Boat Quay. It's been a long time since I was in the Tiong Bahru Market and I was surprised to find that the busy market didn't seem overwhelming to me anymore. In fact it seemed totally normal. I stopped in a tea stall and bought some loose tea grown in Thailand.

Unfortunately our usual lunch spot in Boat Quay looks like it has closed permanently, so we did end up trying somewhere new. I couldn't pass up "Molly Malone's Irish Pub." It was a real pub too; the sign said you must be 18 to enter, so I guess that's the legal drinking age in Singapore. I smiled to spot someone drinking a Guinness here too.

Molly Malone's menu said to ask for the gluten free menu, but they didn't actually have one. I figured lamb kebabs would be free of gluten. Jonathan got a burger and fries, because it is Saturday and he eats a burger and fries for lunch on Saturdays.

We loved our lunches and swore we could have been eating at a pub in Canada, so this was a total treat. Actually, the food and maybe the atmosphere reminded us of the little roadside pub on the way to Sooke from Victoria BC.

I marveled over my mashed potatoes the whole time - so creamy. I haven't had any real mashed potatoes since moving to Asia.
