Everyone took me out for tacos on Mother's Day. Tacos may not sound like the most luxurious thing to do, but it is pretty fancy in Singapore.
We arrived at Chijimes before our noon reservation, so that we could take some photos around the grounds of what was once the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School. The chapel still stands and is the one you may recognize from the movie, "Crazy Rich Asians." Surrounding it are other heritage buildings from the former Convent, which are now full of nice little eateries.

We headed to Senor Taco and ordered our fill of corn tortilla tacos. I think we ate the carnitas (shredded pork), wagyu beef, and el pastor (chicken with pineapple). Jonathan and I liked the carnitas best, and MsC the chicken ones. The littlest girls mostly ate the bowls of freshly made tortilla chips which came with salsa and guacamole.
I was worried they wouldn't be able to find enough to eat, but MsE said, "This is the best lunch ever," and, MsI complained every time someone took the bowl of salsa away from where it sat right in front of her through out lunch. I think the tall Mexican lime sodas also had something to do with their enjoyment. The were light, cold and bubbly, and just what we needed on the hot patio.

Given the heat of the day, the yummy food, the lively music, and the view of the white washed chapel, we easily have believed were were in Mexico for the afternoon.

Later when I was looking though our beautiful photos, I mentioned to MsE that I wished we'd gotten one photo of us girls without our masks on. But, MsE replied, "It's better to follow the rules." Which is true, and these photos certainly do highlight our time in Singapore.
