I'm on a myths kick. Here's a sample of the books of myths we have in our house.

The Scottish Myths I found in a Waldorf School Store in Canada. It was my first book of mythology. The others are all new this fall to go along with our History Quest Text.

When we get into Chinese Myths, I think I'll take them out from the library. They have an extensive collection. I'm thinking later this year - probably when we hit Greece in our History Quest Book - we may try writing some myths ourselves.

Last year we studied common myths of Singapore. I used library books for that and I also read a lot of the myths off the internet with my phone. When Jonathan texts me that someone at work has told him it's a certain local holiday, I'll look it up on my phone and read the associated myth out to the girls right there.

My favorite is Mid-Autumn Festival. This festival is about the moon and lantern light ups are put up around Singapore. There is usually a performance element, but those are online this year. I've found 2 locations that are doing the lantern light ups at night for the next few weeks until the full moon. I'm hoping to get the girls to at least the one at Gardens by the Bay. It's outside and I think it will be the least crowded with it's wide paths as long as we don't go at the full moon. Chinatown is also lit up, but it's narrower alley ways will probably seem quite crowded; We should be able to watch the aerial view online soon.

At home we're decorating our own lanterns. The templates are flat and then we'll cut them and glue them into the lantern shapes. The girls started decorating with their felt pens, but I've picked up new watercolour tubes so now we've been having fun with watercolours. The girls really enjoyed adding salt too their colours too. MsE was not sure what to do about the salt stuck on her fingers.

I'm going to string up all the lanterns we make to decorate the house, but that will be another post.
