Nature Class
MsE has started attending a nature class once a week. It's a half day in the local nature reserve with a pack of 4 and 5 year olds. And she loved it!
"Best day ever!" was exactly what she said. She is not impressed that she has to wait a whole week to go back to play with her friends.
We spend a lot of time outside, but not a lot of it is unstructured time in the "woods," so this class will help fill that void. They start each session by searching for treasures and then sit down and show their finds to the group. After that MsE spent some time setting "rabbit traps" - tying ropes, digging holes. They played some sensory games with a blind fold. The kids made a shelter together and they ate their snack in it. They spotted some local wildlife. The instructor sent me photos of her adventure. I love that they had the kids using real tools and materials.
Despite the bug spray, long loose pants, socks and shoes she was eaten alive by bugs. I counted 7 bug bites, and given it's the height of Dengue Fever Season it's a bit distressing. I've bought her a light long sleeved shirt and bought a new brand of bug spray so hopefully those help. She had bites right through her pants though, so we'll see.
