No Overdue Library Books
We finally returned the stack of library books we took out back in March before the libraries closed.
Library have just reopened. We were were given a 3 week window to return any books we had out on loan. Library capacity is capped, so there's a new reservation system in place. It was a bit confusing, but I figure it out, booked my reservation. It turns out there is a walk-in option, you just need to wait if the library fills up from reservations. The library was nearly empty when I was there - more staff than patrons.
You're only supposed to stay for 30 minutes in the library, so they've removed anything that might allow you to linger. No seating, no tables, no playroom. I sat on the floor to sort the stack of books to make sure I didn't have more than my limit.
I also learned that I my "foreigner" library card was only good for 1 year. I had to pay my $50 again to be able to take out books. Amazingly everything I looked for was in stock. That was really unusual. I hope that tend keeps up. I imagine very few people are using the libraries at the moment. The bookshelves were packed.
Now because The Mummy Ride in Universal Studios inspired MsC, we've got stacks of books about Ancient Egypt in our house.
