MsE and I made Granny's playdough recipe last Sunday.

I was cooking it on a gas stove, so it came together in just a minute or two. I went from "I wonder how long I have to stir this?" to "Did I just ruin it?" in seconds. I hadn't ruined it. I pulled it off the flame and stirred it for a few more seconds in the pot and it was perfect.
I made this recipe with Granny as kid, but I think she always did the stove part by herself. I'm pretty sure I made it myself when MsC was a toddler, but it felt like the first time.
It was so easy and such perfect playdough, I'll make this again. I find the store bought Playdough goes weird in the humidity here in Singapore, so I'm always throwing out. Also warm playdough right of the pot really feels so soothing. It cooled down fast enough for us to use almost instantly. Homemade playdough generally lasts for a few weeks in the fridge.
We had decided we were going to make Gingerbread Men with our playdough, so I added 1 tbsp cacao powder, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 tsp nutmeg before I cooked it to make it the right colour and scent. Beads, googly eyes, the playdough tools and the Christmas cookie cutters completed our set up. The scent was lovely. It wasn't overwhelming, but if you warmed it in your hands the scent got even stronger - like freshly baked Gingerbread.

When we ran out of dough we pulled the beads out, rolled it up, and started again. MsE couldn't bear to destroy her favourite Gingerbead (Wo)man. About her creation she said, "She's just a girl who likes to travel," so we put it in a covered container and we'll see what happens to it. The rest is in the fridge wrapped in saran wrap, so we'll get to try playing with cold playdough soon.
