We've had some quite hot and sunny afternoons lately so we decided to have a pool day. It is hard to believe that this is January and we are not on vacation.

We stayed at the pool all afternoon - almost 3 hours! This was a total treat. Usually we only go to the pool for an hour. It was just me and the girls; Jonathan was at work. No one else was around, giving us a pool all to ourselves.

We started in the wading pool where there are no other pools in sight. I got to sit at the picnic table with our snacks and listen to the audio of a video about Math in the 21's Century while the girls splashed around. (Don't worry I was only listening, not watching the video. Despite the fact that the girls seems good in the wading pool, it only take 60 seconds to drown in an inch of water).

When the girls got bored of the little pool, we moved on to the Lap Pool for a real swim. We also picked up one of the girl's friends to join us in the pool at that point.

MsE favors the snorkle mask.

Pool time is pretty exciting at the moment. MsI at 2.5 years old has figured out how to swim. She can't always remember to kick, but when she does can swim up to 3 meters. She swims face-down, bobbing up for the quickest of breaths before continuing on. She has certainly figured out how to do the face-down snorkel float and can float on her back too.

MsI can float.

She has zero fear. She jumps in off the pool deck and can swim back to the side by herself most of the time now.

The girls all got diving toys for Christmas. MsI holds her breath and gets you to push her down to the bottom of the pool so she can pick up the toys too. She come back up with a "seaweed" or a "shark" almost every time. She likes to race MsE for the same toys.

MsI loves her turtle googles.

I think it's pretty amazing to be swimming at 2 years old; especially since MsI's never had a single swimming lesson. Pool time has gotten a lot easier since people can manage themselves for a few moments.

When we first came to Singapore. I needed to be with in an arms reach of MsC and I had to have hands on MsE and MsI at the same time. I felt like an octopus! We kept pool time pretty short at that point (maybe 30 minutes at at time). Even in the wading pool, I had to walk behind MsI the entire time, because she didn't know how to stand back up when she fell over. It's amazing what 7 months of pool time does.

Good thing we had our pool day yesterday, because it's been pouring rain all afternoon today. As MsI says, "It's Thunder'N'Lightening."
