We were in need of some serious fun after hearing that Singapore will start a very slow transition to opening up from it's "Circuit Breaker," which is what Singapore called it's Essential Services only period.
Beginning June 2 Singapore will start by opening up schools (Phase 1). Little else is to change. People will begin transitioning back to work, and groups of 2 can visit with their parents and grandparents. However, we are still to only go out for essentials and to venture out alone even to exercise. People are to return immediately home and no groups are to gather. Pool, playgrounds and exercise equipment is to remain closed.
Best case scenario, nothing will change for our family for at least 4 - 6 more weeks, likely longer. Phase 1 is to be 4 weeks, and June is still a week away. In Phase 2 (approx. July) small gathering and the reopening of condo pools are anticipated. After a few days of digesting this new timeline, we needed a real dose of fun, so...
The girls decided to host a Prom. It felt rather appropriate, as they know I've been writing their school report cards.
Decorations were painted, the Deepvali lights were pulled out (I couldn't find the Christmas ones), fancy dresses were chosen and laid out the night before, a refreshments menu was even written.
It was a rather authentic prom. Lots of dancing, some hilarity. Lot of Katy Perry and KPop played. The Prom King extracted himself as soon as possible.
Photos and selfies were taken. Prom queen was voted for and crowned. Someone cried, others consoled them, patting their back. Somebody even drank too much, passed out, and peed on the couch.
This is usually a no naps house, but we had done a few hours of solid free style dancing. Then we ended Prom with a session of our favorite songs in "Just Dance on Nintendo Switch."
