SDL Day 29: Masked Up

I've made one set of reversible cotton masks for each of us girls now.

I'll need to work on set 2 pretty soon, because it would be nice to have at least 2 to rotate through. I wash them every night and hope they are dry by the next morning.  The girls are quite happy to put on their mask... most of the time.

It seems to be easier to breath through the cotton ones. I imagine that means they're less effective, however, we're only taking the kids out for walks and trying to avoid people so I'm not too worried about it. They're a bit scratchy at times, but I hope that gets better with repeated washings.

Everyone is excited to put on their fancy masks when we leave the house. They each picked their fabrics.

MsE's mask has the whole Frozen crew. Olof's on there too; that's who she was going for.
I choose Frozen with Christoph for mine.

Yesterday we went out for a walk in the afternoon. It was hot and humid - It is Singapore. 34 C with 86% humidity. Everyone started to freak out about their masks. MsE had a hard time walking more than 2 feet, because her mask was making her face itchy. Frankly, I found mine itchy too. She would stop, rip her mask off, scratch, put it back on, walk 2 feet, shout, repeat.

MsI screams in frustration every time her mask falls off, but at least she is willing to put it back on.

I won't let the girls keep going until they put their masks back on. We've found the helmets they wear with their scooters actually help keep the masks on.

A security guard was out on the Boardwalk watching our mask issues. It's private property owned by the condo complexes, so he was out there telling people to pull their masks up. Everyone seemed to have a mask, but some people had them around their necks or on their chin, or even their wrist and not necessarily covering their mouths and nose.

Thankfully, he just smiled knowingly and did not bother us. We headed straight home once MsE's itchiness began.

It was a short walk.

Princesses wear masks!
