Wuhan's Coronavirus has people staying home in Singapore. We had a family day on Sunday, and noticed a distinct lack of crowds on Sentosa Island.

Sunday is the only day of the week that many people get off so usually Sunday attractions are packed on Sentosa. We visited the Aquarium and then popped into Universal Studios. They were both empty. I can't even count it as a crowd.

We were thermal scanned at the gate before they let us into either attraction. They even pulled out the thermometer and checked MsI's forehead temperature; I'm assuming she was harder to see on the scanner buckled in the stroller.

We got to the S.E.A Aquarium just after lunch. There were no lines to get in and the Exit Tunnel only had a few people in it. It's usually 100 feet of wall to wall people. Actually the Tunnel is usually like that on a weekday too. It's usually hard to see the aquariums up close because of the crowd, but we had no problem even with MsI in the stroller.

We were the only people in the Members Only Dome at the Open Ocean Exibit, and the regular section was very quiet too. It's usually a busy spot at this half-way point, because there's room to sit down rest and sell snacks there too.

The Aquarium was dressed up for Chinese New Year which ends on Saturday. We had fun looking for their list of Auspicious Marine Animals.

Here's my picture of the Auspicious Pineapple Fish.

We entered Universal at 2 pm. This should have been peak time! Instead it looked like park opening. The wait time for most rides was posted as 5 minutes.

We walked onto all the rides - there was no wait at all. At that time I would have expected:

  • Madagascar 35 minutes
  • Shek's Dragon 45 minutes
  • Dino-Soar 30 minutes
  • Jurassic Park 45 minutes.

Jurassic Park is the one that shocked me the most. It still said 5 minutes. I've never even seen that at opening time.

We caught the 3 pm show of Elmo Time. The kids adore this show, and we got to sit front row centre this time!

MsE was even able to get her picture taken with Elmo after the show. I am not one to stand in line to meet the characters. Usually we wave as we walk by. But we just walked right up to them and had a chat this time.

I'm also not sure what happened but MsI was excited to go on all the rides. Usually she becomes hysterical and won't go on any rides. Maybe it was because we walked right on and she didn't have any time to start to worry about them.

Ms.I on Dino-Soar- She shouted "I wanna go again!" at the end of the ride.

I felt bad for the people manning the dinosaur egg show. This is one of those pop up shows that you walk past randomly. Usually they have a crowd of 20 - 40 people watching. There was maybe 10 of us. MsC didn't even have to wait in line for a picture. She was the only person who stopped to snap a pic. They must have called participants for pictures 5 times.

At Universal we wiped down/washed our hands after each ride we rode, and we made sure to wash our hands before we ate anything. I saw the escalator handrails being wiped down in the Aquarium; and they say they have increased cleaning of surfaces at Sentosa.
