Feb 27, 2020 with my Mother In Law, may have been my favorite of our adventures.

We left the kids at home with a babysitter and headed to the famous Raffles Hotel. The hotel was recently renovated, and it has beautiful architecture. We had a peek around, before heading to Long Bar to meet Jonathan who was meeting us after work.

We followed the directions to Long Bar through the Hotel easily enough. Often Long Bar has a long queue to get in, but on a Thursday with COVID 19 out there, us ladies were seated right away upstairs. It was pretty quiet up there so we snuck back down the spiral staircase and snagged a table on the ground floor where we could see the main bar.

Long Bar is where the Raffles Hotel claims the Singapore Sling was invented in 1915. We had to try the Slings. The famous pink drink was pricey, even for Singapore standards, at $35 for an Original. A Vintage Sling made from 1950's liquor was listed for $188. I've had a Sling elsewhere and the Long Bar Original is my favorite so far. I enjoyed the free peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor too.
