What do you do before the country closes the shops?
Apparently a lot of people went to IKEA. There were huge queues there. Maybe they were buying desks to work and school from home. I on the other hand went out for books. I bought books before I bought food - just so you understand my priorities. I bought books, and then I went to the library and I borrowed books. I made Jonathan pull out his library card too, so I could take out more than my max of 16 books. Books aren't due until 3 weeks after the library reopens - so they're ours for like ...forever..?

I also bought some art supplies (googly eyes and pens and pencil crayons), a notebook (journal?), and envelopes at the Bookstore. Some letters to Canada are in the mail now.
We stopped by the Post Office to stock up on stamps, only to learn that you can pay for postage through machines outside the post office. It was pretty cool.

Home with my books, I was in a bit of panic that it was not it enough books. It's not; I'm certain of this. Jonathan stopped me from venturing out for more by assuring me he can download books for me on his e-reader. We also do have a giant home library. I also have the Audible membership on my phone, but only MsC likes to listen to books through it. I always give up and go buy a hard copy of the book I'm listening to part way through.
I had a hard time deciding on books. There's a very small adult fiction section in the bookstore near us. I wanted books that weren't too sad, which excluded a big chunk of the Asian books. I didn't want anything that would inspire travel, which is my usual default. Somehow, I ended up with 2 memoirs: one of someone who was sex trafficked and another full of the black humour of a UK doctor working on the Labour and Delivery ward. For library books, I grabbed a trilogy of a midwife in a Post-Apocalyptic world where almost everyone has died in a Pandemic.
Pretty sure I failed on the "not too sad" requirement; also who reads about a Pandemic during a Pandemic?
Honestly, I'm enjoying all the books I selected so far. I started a book log on April 1st. I've read 5 books so far and it's only April 11th. They're not short books; none have contained less than 300 pages.
Apparently Jonathan has ordered 5 books online in 11 days so...we may need more bookshelves. Good thing IKEA Online delivers at the moment too.
