MsI is now 3.
The birthday girl chose her only yellow dress to wear that day. She says, "Yellow is my favorite colour."
She spent forever opening her presents. Stores were open so were excited to be able to shop for her at Toys R Us. Most of the morning was spent playing with each toy before she could be interested in opening the next.
Later we headed out for a long cable car ride. MsI's favorite thing in Singapore is the cable cars and this was our first trip since they closed in April (3 months).

We did the whole round trip without getting off: Harbourfront Station to Sentosa Island back through Harbourfront Station, then up to Mt Faber and back Harbourfront Station). The ride takes about an hour to do all at once. MsI shouted out the Merlion and the Dolphins in their Aquarium tanks, but she probably could have passed on the up the mountain side (it's over the trees).

We went for a swim in the afternoon. MsI spent her time racing her sisters across the pool. She can swim all the way across alone (easily 9 to 12 feet, sometimes much farther). She swims with her face in the water and then pops up for a breath, then back down to keep right on going. She's also figured out how to tread water and swim on her back. Now she's working on swimming longer distances with her face above the water. All self-motivated, of course.
I find it amazing that she's never had a official swimming lesson. She does spend at least 7 hours in the water a week though. She received new diving toys for her birthday. She hasn't remembered how to swim along the bottom to pick them up yet. Before the Lock-Down pool break, she would ask us to "throw [her] down" and she would take a big breath and then we would push her down to the bottom of the pool and she would swim along gathering up the diving toys. At the moment she's having fun getting them from shallower water like on the stairs.

It was a full day after we finished off our evening Paw Patrol party. We kept the hotdog dinner to just our family. MsI didn't feel like she missed out on anything with her COVID Birthday, but MsC was saddened by the lack of party guests.

I felt a little bad that we didn't invite any kids over. In hindsight we could have had a few (maybe one family) and MsI does have quite a few friends her age. It didn't even occur to me to invite anyone over so close to the re-opening after Lock-down. We could not have met up with anyone outside, which is how we did MsE's birthday last year, but we could have invited a maximum of 5 additional people into the house. Eating with others feels risky to me at the moment though. Simple was nice though.
Happy Birthday MsI!
