The Nut Exploded

Actually the nut dried out after about a week in the house, and then it cracked!

We applied some force to then split the Cocoa Nut open and take a look inside. I was as excited as the kids to finally get a peek inside out mystery nut.

It was filled with these long brown pieces. At first we weren't sure what they were, but after we demolished the entire inside of the nut, we decided they must be the seeds.

We found a small white seed at the base of each brown piece we cut open. Looks like the brown pieces are the parachutes to let the seeds travel far and wide.

And yes, MsE is wearing a sweater. She found it at the back of a closest and was so excited to have a sweater. She really doesn't feel the heat. She wore that sweater out to play that evening at 30 Celsius and didn't break a sweat running around in it at the playground.
