Ms.E’s favorite food is "Red Thai Curry". She call is “Chicken and Rice, and I can not find it in Singapore. I've searched the Hawker Centres. I've bought 5 different jars/packages of Thai “Red Curry” paste at various super markets all over town. It's settled - Thai red curry paste is a totally different flavour here. It's more like a yellow Indian curry. It's good; it's just not "Red Thai Curry". The closest flavour I’ve found here is is "Green Thai Curry", but to a 4 year old it’s the “wrong” colour. I've considered food dye, but I don't think it would help. This realization was a little devastating - Red Thai Curry was part of our master plan for feeding our pickiest eater.
But we are all growing....Celebrations are in order!!!
Ms.E finally tasted Green Thai Curry after only 8 weeks in Singapore. At the end of dinner out she surprised us by saying "I’m still hungry. I'll be brave, and try the green one". No time to waste, I immediately I bought a whole dish for her - $5. She liked it too. I tried not to make a big deal of ripping up the chicken for her, because it comes on the bone here, not chicken breast like in my Canadian kitchen. Ms.E says "I'll eat it at ALL the Hawker Centres." My purse may feel a lighter with out it's many green apples and Nutella sandwiches.
