Thoughts on the New Year
Here's a post in the spirit of April Fools Day, although this is not a joke...
I never got around to publishing my "Happy New Year" Post, but I thought you might enjoy seeing how I was feeling as 2020 started out.
Things are quite a bit different now in the world. We started to hear about COVID 19 a few weeks after I wrote the post below, where as now, 3 months later we are in the middle of a Global Pandemic.
COVID 19 of course made a fool of my only New Year's Resolution, with the implementation of travel bans to most countries to limit it's spread and airports full of grounded planes. In fact if we were to leave Singapore for any reason right now, we would not be allowed back in and our Work and Dependent Passes would be revoked.
January 1, 2020
Well folks, I'm exactly where I want to be. I've got no real new years resolutions. When the girls were playing Genie the other day and asked me to make a wish, I truly couldn't think of one.
The last year has been interesting. We had settled down in Chemainus and were living a great life, homeschooling in Canada with quite a few friends. I was part of a Book Club - something I'd always wanted to join.
Last year (2019) we celebrated New Years Day at our home in Chemainus, Canada. We did some family goal planning activities together and I wrote down "Next year I want to move to Singapore," and we did!
We were only discussing moving to Singapore as a vague idea at that point.
It's hard to believe that just a few days over 6 months later, we had given away most of our things; shipped the remainder by air and sea; and had flown across the world to Singapore with trolley full of luggage, 3 small children, and a plan to make a home here for at least a couple of years.
2020 couldn't possibly be as eventful. So what do we have in store for 2020?
We are prioritizing travel!
Our goal is to visit 3 new countries in Asia this year.
Sounds lofty, but we could drive an hour and cross the bridge to be in Malaysia or a 5 minute walk with a 30 minute boat ride would have us in Indonesia.
I'm sure we will have no problem meeting this year's goal!
