Our Little Treasure Hunters

We tried some new things at Universal Studios this morning.

First we took bus there for the first time. The bus stop across from our home, so it's a little surprising that it took so long try this route to Sentosa. Getting on (and off) buses with the double stroller is challenging, but we're doing it more frequently now. I figured we were up for trying it out. It was pretty easy.

The ride itself took less than 10 minutes. We saw the bus we needed drive off as we walked up and it also took us a little while to find the lift (elevator) on the other side, but we were inside Universal Studios within 30 minutes of leaving home.

If we take the cable cars, I assume it will take us an hour. The train is pretty fast, but it's a 15 minute walk just to the train. The train and bus probably take the same amount of time, but with the bus we walked less and it only cost $1 each instead of $4.

Usually we start at Universal Studios in Madagascar and then head to Far Far Away, but today we headed to Ancient Egypt. There we did Treasure Hunters as our first ride. Treasure Hunters doesn't have an Express Pass line, and the wait time is always terribly long by the time we make our way around the park. Because we had arrived at Park Opening the line was less than 15 minutes. The kids loved it so much we jumped back in line for a second ride.

The line for Treasure Hunters at about 10:30 am on a weekday.

I'd read this ride wasn't worth the wait, but it was worth a short wait. It's one of only about 4 rides that MsI at 2 years old can go on, and it's the only one she's not afraid of so far. You ride the old fashioned car around the track and look our for the dangers of Egypt along the way.

MsE and MsC took turns being the driver. They were quite sure they were actually driving. The staff member buckling us in, asked MsE where she was from and then whether she had a Canadian Drivers License? When it was MsC's turn, she asked me how to make the car go faster.

So serious driving our car.
MsI unsure as to whether she was going to like this ride or not.

After 2 rides of Treasure Hunters, we headed to Far Far Away to the Dragon Roller Coaster. MsE is too short to ride alone. There was no extra staff member available to ride with MsE today, but we found a nice group of ladies who took MsE and MsC along with them on the ride. MsE said she liked riding with them, because the Auntie next to her didn't scream even though she did scream herself.

We did the "Hippo Ride" as MsI calls it (aka Madagascar: A Crate Adventure) so we could all ride together again. We had to bribe MsI on to the ride with Netflix on my iPhone, because even though she has been asking to go on this ride for days at the last second she started to say "I scared" and she means it. She was fine after the first minute of the ride which is a loud and dark moment.

We caught some street entertainment - neither or which we had seen before. There was a trio singing pop songs in front of Mel's Dinner. When that was over we caught the end of the Rhythm Truck and it's Break dancers. MsC couldn't get over the fact that "people can do back flips in real life".

We picked up some hot dogs from a street cart and then headed home for nap time. On the way out some bubbles lured the girls over. The staff member used the bubble gun to make tons of bubbles for the girls and even let the big girls try it out for themselves. MsE tells me I will be getting a bubble gun for Christmas.
