MsC asks, "Is it time for Science yet?" Right now, Science is water testing of the aquariums every day.

There's a number of things that need to be tested in the water and everyone has their own chart to complete. There's test tubes, water pipettes, drops to test the chemical reactions, and a colour chart to compare the result to. The kids remember that the Ammonia test is looking for for "Fish Pee".

They're taking it all so serious. MsC told me, "Daddy says it needs it to be exact." The girls learned about meniscus (the curve of water when it sticks to the glass at the sides of the tube). The girls use the pipette to add just the right amount of water to each test tube. The kids count the drops while Jonathan adds them to each test tube. Test tube shaking is pretty fun though and the colours are pretty.

MsE was disappointed that she wasn't allowed to play with the pretty water coloured water after the tests were done. We explained the test tubes had chemicals in them and they weren't like the water we use for practicing colour theory with the children's tea set. The girls like to drink those.
So yes, we're keeping a very close adult eye on the water testing.
