We've been in Singapore for 3 weeks now and we've been treating it like a vacation so far - out most days seeing the sights, eating lots of "take away", and running ourselves a little ragged. Singapore is such an amazing place to explore. We haven't even scratched the surface of the things for us to do. But, we're getting a little tired of the holiday.

We saw some of our new friends who moved to Singapore a week before us go through this phase already. They looked worn out and then ended up sick with Influenza and the Chicken Pox. I'm terrified Ms. I will come down with Chicken Pox despite having had her first shot. It's not fully effective till the 2nd booster at kindergarten age, and my family has a history of getting chicken pox twice. She has one spot that I swear is a bug bite, but I'm checking her constantly for more spots. We do all seem to be coming down with something - Ms.I started it with a high fever and vomiting. She's feeling a bit better today. This morning the other girls got breakfast and then just looked at it, and now they're cuddling with blankies on the couch. The Air Con makes the fleece blankies possible.
We've secured a condo for July 5. I'll tell you all about the process in a different post, it was lengthy. We're not ready to go home to Canada, but we're certainly ready to settle into a home. It's been fun at the hotel, but Ms.C is noticing how her friends keep leaving this place, and is looking forward to making long-term friends. Ms.E is tired of going down to the buffet each morning. She wants to stay in the room and play Animal Hospital, but I want cappuccino as soon as everyone is awake.
Going to the buffet is obviously not bothering me, and I'll miss the housekeeping. If I forget to do the dishes they are miraculously done! Jonathan keeps pointing out that we can always get a live-in Helper; I'm not ready for that. It also really bothers Ms.C that Housekeeping makes her bed.
We're excited that the air shipment will be delivered to our new place soon. It contains our kitchen stuff, some books, internet/computer stuff, bedding, and extra clothes. Our boat shipment is still at sea. We're ready to hunker down and get into a routine - Did I just say ROUTINE? Definitely not a schedule, but we certainly need a rhythm to our days. I might even start up "school" right away at the new place. In Canada summer break is just starting, but in Singapore the 4 week Summer Break is just ending, and school starts back up nationally here today.
I'm setting myself a goal to stay close to home and take no transit for at least a week once we arrive. That will be a stretch for me. I am certain that there will be enough to do at our new place though.
Time to change our motto from "We're here for a good time, not a long time" to something more sustainable. Any suggestions?
